The film 'Fools Gold' was my introduction to Feature film.
I had just finished high school in Adelaide and had been offered a job to work in the Props department by HOD Pete Wyborn. I packed what little I had and moved up to the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. Leaving all my friends, family and what little I knew behind.
Pete had offered me the role of Labourer in the Props Department. I asked Pete " What's a Labourer and what’s props?"
I had noooo idea what the hell I had gotten into. Regardless, Movie Magic had lit up in my wee little eyes. The smallest shittest job was the greatest thing of all time. Time flew by and I had an absolute blast.
The props department were made up of a bunch of strange land pirates who kindly took the time to teach me a bunch of great skills. I had made some great things and also made some great mistakes along the way.
Over the course of my 6 months in Queensland we had made sunken treasure, half scale boats, cannons, weapons and over 7000 pieces of coral to fill one of Australia's biggest under water sets.
My next job offer was Australia which led me to move to Sydney.
